Senior school

Year 10, 11 & 12

Senior schooling provides a comprehensive learning program that is multi-faceted. The platform for future learning is in technology-based manufacturing for which our students require a new set of skills.
At Mount Compass Area School we are currently in the developmental phase for the implementation of significant investment in STEM. These technology-based innovations will be initiated over the next two years.

We aim to develop students to be lifelong learners who are persistent in their learning, confident in their abilities, resilient to the challenges life brings to them and connected to the community and world around them.

The school maintains its commitment to the Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu Secondary Schools Alliance with the delivery of Certificate III Agriculture at the school and the opportunity for students to also engage in our schools Agricultural program in Year 10 and SACE (Stage 1 and 2)

Our school has a history of excellent academic achievement by our senior students. Year 10 students complete their final year of the Australian Curriculum as well as having the opportunity to begin qualifications that can be used as part of a student’s SACE accreditation or an acknowledgement of skills toward an apprenticeship.
Year 10 students start their SACE curriculum with the development of a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) which develops a number of integrated learning initiatives including Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Operation Flinders expedition.
Year 11 students have the opportunity to volunteer their service in a Peer Support leadership program.

Years 11 and 12 student learning is guided by the SACE and provides both the traditional courses and/or a flexible curriculum allowing for part-time work and school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.

Students can choose from a range of subjects in the senior years: Agriculture, Art, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Community Studies, Essential and General English, Food and Hospitality, Technology, Mathematics (Essential, General, Methods and Specialist), Physical Education and VET.

The Senior School places high expectations on students as role models within our Reception to Year 12 community to promote excellence at every opportunity.
Relevant programs support students through their senior years of study. These include: time management, study skills and exploring post-secondary options.
